The Greene County Building Regulations Department has legal jurisdiction in all of the unincorporated areas of Greene County. This area includes the incorporated areas of Willard and Brookline by contract. Our number one goal is to offer the best service and be of help as pleasantly as possible to the taxpayers of Greene County, Missouri.
All construction in these areas larger than 10' X 10' or attached to a dwelling and has a roof and some remodeling projects must be permitted by this office before construction may begin. This permitting process has several important reasons to be in place and strictly adhered to for the best service to the citizens of Greene County.
- Proper placement of structure including Set backs, Sink holes, and Fire lanes
- Proper installation of utilities
- Maintain minimum building standards and practices
- Insure that zoning and other regulations are observed
- To observe Missouri State Statutes for 1st Class Counties
For all commercial construction, please call the office for the correct information on how to obtain the proper permits.
There is no study or waiting period to obtain residential permits except in extreme or unusual circumstances. If all the proper items are brought into the office, we pride ourselves on giving same day service.
To obtain a permit for residential construction/remodel the following items must be furnished. to our office in person:
- Legal document with the legal description of property or name and lot number of the subdivision or mobile home park.
- Floor plan to be kept by this office for dwellings. Not needed for mobile homes or accessory buildings.
- Soil analysis done by a State Registered Engineer or Professional Soil Scientist for all structures not connecting to an existing sewer system.
- If installing septic, the name and county certification number of the installer.
- Name and state certification number of the well driller if not on city water.
- If not in a platted subdivision or in a mobile home park, a zoning certificate from the Planning & Zoning Department, Room 306 of the Historic Courthouse at 940 Boonville. If in the cities of Willard or Brookline, a zoning certificate must be obtained from City Hall.
