Road Construction
Farm Road 178 (Weaver Rd) Road Widening - Farm Road 135 to Cloverdale)
Expected Date of Completion: 12/13/2011
Project Limits:
From west of Farm Road 135 (Golden Ave.) to Cloverdale, approximately 5100 feet.
Project Update - June 3, 2011:
Starting June 6, Weaver Road will be closed from west of Cloverdale to east of Aspen so that the contractor can finish the installation of underground utilities, demolish the existing asphalt pavement and begin regrading for the new road. The curb and gutter and roadway pavement will be constructed before this section of Weaver is reopened to traffic. This work is expected to last through the month of June, weather permitting. Residents whose sole access is from Weaver Road will be allowed to travel through the construction zone. All other motorists must plan alternate routes to avoid the work zone.
Prime Contractor:
Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., Springfield, Missouri
General Project Info:
Farm Road 178 will be widened to a three lane curb and gutter street.
- The general vertical profile of the roadway will stay the same to reduce impacts to the adjacent properties, although some of the minor dips and humps will be eliminated. The curves at Western Avenue and Ridgecrest Avenue will be improved to
enhance traffic flow and safety.
- New drainage systems will be constructed to handle stormwater runoff and improve drainage along Farm Road 178. Sidewalks will be constructed along both sides of Farm Road 178, connecting the residents in the area with Wilson Creek School, McBride School and park, and Harrison School.
- Sanitary sewer, gas and water relocation will be a part of our contractor's work. Electric and telephone relocations are being constructed by contractors and crews of Ozark Electric and AT&T, respectively, and are not working directly for Greene County.
Construction Project Timeline:
Power and communication relocations are ongoing.
- Construction began on April 18, 20011, and will generally proceed from west to east. Once school is out for summer break, the contractor will move to the area just east of James Ave. and install a new box culvert under FR 178.
- During the road construction process, access to properties along Farm Road 178 will be maintained, but may be temporarily restricted as construction progresses. Through traffic will be restricted, so motorists not living adjacent to the project will need to use alternate routes.
- Construction of major drainage structures and utilities across Farm Road 178 may require overnight road closures. Other construction activities may require lane closures or short-term road closures.
- Construction is expected to be complete by winter 2011.
Estimated Construction Cost:
This project is estimated to cost approximately $2.4 Million, not including right of way and utility relocations.
