Greene County Circuit Court - Juvenile Court Probation Unit

The role of juvenile probation is that of a catalyst for developing safe communities and healthy youth and families. All officers in the Probation Unit are located in the Greene County Juvenile Office - 31st Judicial Circuit.

General Supervision: Juvenile Probation Supervision provides various levels of supervision that are based on several factors including: Protection of the community; a risk-needs assessment; out-of-home placements; and, amenability to rehabilitation.

Probation services are divided into two main areas:

Formal Probation: Three Formal Probation Officers provide supervision for roughly 150 high and medium risk offenders (aged 12-17) a year, using evidence based practices that hold youth accountable while ensuring the safety of the community. Officers are responsible for assessing each youth's risks and their unique problems that contribute to delinquent behavior and monitors their compliance with treatment. Each youth's case is informed by utilizing comprehensive risk assessments and case plans, which may incorporate mental health evaluations and substance abuse treatment.

Informal Probation: Three Informal Probation Officers provide supervision for roughly 200 low risk offenders (12-17) a year, using evidence based practices that hold youth accountable while ensuring the safety of the community. Officers are responsible for assessing each youth's risks and their unique problems that contribute to delinquent behavior and monitors their compliance with treatment. Each youth's case is informed by utilizing comprehensive risk assessments and case plans, which may incorporate mental health evaluations and substance abuse treatment.
